Different Portrait Poses - Page 18

Here are more poses by Sam. Sam was having a hard time concentrating for this session... 3 of the girls are in heat and the fourth one hasn't decided yet if she wants to be last. Sam is bad enough when his daughters go into heat, but he's a real air head when Chevelle does. He doesn't hear commands, he won't eat, doesn't sleep and paces back and forth. So, because of this I wasn't able to get him to sit as long as he normally does. I got in a new background and another monolight and wanted to try them out, so I put up with Sam not listening long enough to shoot off a quick roll of Fuji Reala film. I have started using Fuji Reala because I like the looks with the dogs better than the Kodak Gold and Royal Gold I had been using. I'm told it's a low contrast film, and with the high contrast of the dogs and any background I use, that seems to be what I need. The new background is another roll of seamless background paper in Charcoal Gray color. I wanted to try something dark, but didn't want to get black paper. I also got in a Photogenic 3001 monolight to replace the Vivitar 365 flash I was using. The 3001 plugs into AC so I won't have the problem of batteries running down. I actually shot a roll before this one, but between the dogs not staying put and shadows because I used the 3001 without a reflector or umbrella, I didn't even bother scanning the negatives in.

I didn't seem to have the lights set up correctly in these pictures of Sam. The background and back corner are burned in and there isn't enough light on Sam. That's what I get for trying to take it easy with the new light. I always seem to go too dark when I'm afraid that I might use too much light.
